Poster Experimentations

To develop and explore different approaches to the final poster, we decided to try introducing colour through the photocopier which was interesting as all our original images were black and white therefore allowing them all to be in varying colours and tones. We continued the main concept of the poster being very chaotic and hectic however also tried to explore the idea of having the chaos very contained to signify the idea of computer screens.
This exploration is my personal favourite as I think the red is not a main colour theme in the film however it's representative of the dangers that come with losing your privacy due to the internet and also the chaos. The containment of the text in a small part of the poster makes it very claustrophobic which represents the social experiments. It's uncomfortable to the eye due to the contrast between the bright red and the black text overlaid quite messily which allows the viewer to feel the distress.

This is another exploration of the idea of containment. The containment and large empty space in the poster could also represent the isolation people felt due to putting their life on the internet as they felt the connection with people wasn't real - it was all for show. I personally don't like the colours used in this poster as I feel they have no real significance to the documentary and don't convey the distress however I think the layout is really interesting and the use of cameras directly connotes surveillance which is a main concept and theme throughout our project.

These two posters are also some of my favourites as I don't think they would work on their own as a successful poster but I think are successful in being a part of a poster or the main concept for a poster to be digitally worked over to include the text and information. I enjoy how hectic and chaotic it is and that it's layering of images that aren't instantly identifiable but suggest the idea of information overload.

These images are interesting too as they carry on the idea of containment like in the earlier experimentations which connote computer screens and inputing all this information into it however it's also breaking out of the containment which conveys how the internet affects your whole life - especially as conveyed in the documentary in the second social experiment when people were making decisions for Josh Harris and his girlfriend that resulted in them breaking up.
