Presentation Aesthetic Initial Ideas

We all tasked ourselves to each come up with an initial idea for the presentation design as it was important in communicating the connotations of the project to the audience. We had to consider how it would look on a projector - the colour wouldn't be as opaque. How much text we would include, and what are we connoting?

Peer Crit
After the designs were created, we had a meeting outside of session time to peer crit each other and decide on the aesthetic we are going with.
Millie

  • Using illustrations to make it friendly and unique
  • Colour choices makes it appeal to our target audience as its a combination of professional (navy) with neon.
  • Need to consider how this would be screenprinted - especially using one colour.
Leon

  • The serif font doesn't work for this project - looks a bit too harsh/connotations of a pub.
  • Brick illustrations are good - establishes idea.
  • Bitmapped map is overcomplicated - also looks like eastenders
  • Blue doesn't work
Shamita

  •  Green is a bit too dull
  • Bitmaps are cool - adds texture
  • Font is too simple
  • How would images overlay the bitmap? would they be bitmapped too?
Mehroosa

  •  Like the line art - simplistic way of establishing location fo LS6
  • Plant isn't relevant (the colour scheme inspiration) - could use LS6 plants
Mel
  • Slab serif is eye catching and works but can't be used for bodies of text - will this cause too many typefaces?
  • Handwritten type is cool - allows combination between professional and playful.
  • Illustrations and the placements on title pages work well - how would this work on bodies of text or images?
Natalie - Mine

  •  Like the blurry background - creates texture using a logotype
  • Looks most professional
  • Typeface works (Source Sans Pro) - creates a consistency throughout with a use of sans typefaces.
Chosen Aesthetic
The majority had decided on my presentation aesthetic as they liked the textural elements, and the white with neon background made it less harsh on the eyes. The zoom into the logotype was the most preferred, as it leaves space for the text or visuals to be the main focus. However a few of us also preferred Mel's aesthetic, including me, as we feel the illustrations provide more personality.
