Ali Hanson Research

- Write about specific projects. explain the ideas and intentions behind them. How do these projects help you understand the working processes and interests of the designer?

Ali Hanson

Personal Projects
Printed Pages is his personal project - it's a magazine that coincides with It's Nice That. Their process lasts 2 months for every issue they release and it's based on commissions that they select and then produce their own designs for the production and layout of the print.

‘In terms of research and finding inspiration, I’m always looking at magazines, but when I’m working on Printed Pages I find it really distracting to look at any other publications. I either get worried that what we’re doing might not be good enough, or that it might start to look like another magazine. It’s amazing how easily you can be subliminally influenced by anything around you. So it’s really just about what the It’s Nice That tone should be and feel like.’
Focusing on own brand's voice and avoiding comparisons to other media to avoid losing brand identity. useful in own work - could question how to decide your own design voice?
