This needs to address the local and wider community - this isn't just for design students.
- This is an opportunity to contribute to the community.
- Work collaboratively to produce a 10 minute presentation pitch to deliver to the class and tutors.
- Presentation must be exciting, engaging, get audience on board.
- Pitches will be judged and the successful concepts/pitches will be helped by the Graphic Design compartment to have it come to life.
Need to consider:
- Budget - how much does it cost to rent 50 chairs, how much does it cost to buy the supplies
- Venue - where's an appropriate space (how much does it cost to rent this space?)
- Location - where's it going to be? Needs to be accessible. If it's in Hyde Park you'd probably get more turn out from students etc.
- Logistics
- Materials - food, drink, supplies
- Technology - are there going to be projectors? will there be tickets and ways of scanning tickets?
- Branding - has to have a visual identity
- Marketing - how would you market this, how would you get attention?
The more feasible and realistic the pitch/plan is, the more likely the department will help it come to life and the better it will be.
Deliverables:
- A pitch presentation deck performed by the whole group, including a short Q&A. Consider the form of the presentation - if you're producing a podcast it should be a podcast.
- An uploaded copy of the presentation with supporting visual materials.
- Minimum of 6 x A3 design boards - digital. *the design boards are done with your groups.
- PPP blog.
Task:
Based on the briefing, think about, consider 'what do we think about Leeds and what do we think is missing from Leeds?'
- Print Fair - either a place to sell your prints or a community workshop - or both
- a USP for connecting musicians and designers - networking.
- A stall in Kirkgate market to sell/engage local community with contemporary design.
