idea to create a variation of street signs that have elements of general ones found so that its theme will be identifiable. The idea of using arrows as a prevalent theme is probably most relevant to the idea of directions and detours.
Progress:
Using Windings 3 as a starting point for arrows, I chose a few which slightly challenge conventional arrows and also relate to the idea of detouring. The second suggests going both ways which relates to the initial idea in which an arrow pointing both ways and the text "That Way" accompany each other to suggest a lack of direction. The curved arrows suggest going back which relates to the idea of not just moving in a direct line.
Initially, I used the same colour eye dropped from the street sign and began to glitch the arrows using the Emboss and Bevel tool to create something eye catching that also contradicts aspects of conventional arrows and their purpose in these street signs as they are no longer clear and concise. The other arrows found using the Wingdings 3 typeface have a dash which mimics the dashes found on the street signs suggesting roads therefore making it clear what this sign is to the viewers.Problems:
The green colour seems too dull. In actual street signs, it's used to blend into the environment and be pleasing to the eye however as I need this to be eye-catching enough for viewers to look up close at it as it will have the Instagram handle and hashtag it needs to be more interesting.
Solution:
However need feedback on the the use of arrows as the separation dashes - does this suggest a direction/ is it clear that these are related to the road or can they be pointing at the Instagram handle?
